FMO Português is one of the most traditional and successful clubs in Brazilian women’s handball. It will be present from June 15 to 19 at the Handball Libertadores.
The institution represents the historic Clube Português do Recife and has the support of the FMO (Faculdade de Medicina de Olinda), so it is currently known as FMO/Português.
Over the years, it has established itself as an important source of players for the national youth and professional teams.
Among the outstanding athletes she trained is Samira Rocha, who won the 2013 World Championship with the Brazilian national team.
Currently, Renata Arruda is the goalkeeper for the national team.
Talent and tradition
In the senior women’s category, the team is considered a national power, especially in competitions organized by the Brazilian Handball Confederation.
Among her recent titles and achievements are the Brazilian Senior Women’s Championship, in 2025 she won her 15th title.
It has also been a finalist in the National League in 4 of the last 5 editions of the Brazilian league, becoming champion in 2021.
Some of their outstanding players of the current squad include Raquel Ladeia, who was MVP of the Brazilian Championship 2025. Letícia Lins is one of their goalkeepers with great projection.

Jamily Félix is a left winger and has been called up to the Brazilian National Team. Eduarda Borges, is part of the Youth National Team.

Cristiano Rocha, coach of the senior women’s team, part of the institution since 2004, commented that they are training very hard, using the official matches prior to the continental competition to improve the pace of play and consolidate a tactical scheme for the team.
“We are very happy with the team’s performance in training and preparation matches. We have two new players compared to last year. Beatriz Iório pivot and Maria Clara right back”.

FMO Português represents an important part of my life. Since 2004, I have been in charge of the women’s team, and I have experienced moments that go far beyond the courts.
It has been years of work, dedication, achievements, defeats and learning, forming people and athletes. I am proud to see what the club represents today for handball in the region and in Brazil.
