Chile, Venezuela and Peru secured their first wins on the first day of competition at the Nations Trophy, which is being held in Lima.
The purpose of this championship is to support countries seeking to establish themselves in the region. Through September 6, Sports Complex No. 1 at the National Sports Village (VIDENA) is hosting the South American qualifiers.
Day 1 Summary
Chile vs. Ecuador
Chilean and Ecuadorian women’s teams kicked off the competition and got the ball rolling. Chile defeated Ecuador 45–10.
The team coached by Ramiro Montoya earned two points; Romina Ramirez was named MVP after scoring 8 goals.
Its referees for the match were the Peruvian duo of Paolo Lujan and Jesús Ortíz Velásquez.
Colombia vs. Venezuela
The second match of the day ended in a 27-17 victory for Venezuela over Colombia. The team coached by Mónica Ospina committed forced errors, and the Venezuelans exploited gaps in their defense to score.
Game’s MVP was Elimar Machado, who scored 8 goals. The referees for the match were the Brazilian duo Pamela Ferreira de Souza and Natany Valentim de Lima.
Peru vs. Bolivia
To close out the first day of competition, the home team faced off against Bolivia in front of a large crowd.
Peru beat Bolivia 34-19 and earned two points in Group B. Top scorer Camila Delgado, with 10 goals, was named MVP of the match.
The Argentine refereeing duo consisted of Tomás Carrizo and Francisco Cistriano.

This Thursday, starting at 3:00 p.m., Chile faces Venezuela; at 5:00 p.m., Colombia plays Ecuador; and to close out the day at 7:00 p.m., Bolivia takes on Uruguay.
It’s worth noting that this tournament will first take place in South America, followed by Central America from September 29 to October 3.
Each championship will award two spots per subcontinent for the qualifying tournament for the Women’s Senior World Championship, which will take place in December.
This marks the start of the journey toward the 28th IHF World Championship (Germany and the Netherlands 2027) for emerging nations.
