Chile and Uruguay are the finalists in the Nations Trophy being held in Lima. This Sunday at 7:00 p.m., Chile and Uruguay will face off for the title.
Both teams qualified for the Central American and Caribbean South Regional Championship, which will be held in December and awards spots in the World Cup for that age group.
Summary of Day Four
Bolivia vs. Ecuador
In the opening match of the day, a closely contested game ended in a 25-25 tie, forcing the teams into a penalty shootout. Bolivia defeated Ecuador 29-28.
The game’s MVP was Bolivian goalkeeper Melvi Anze Ruiz. Meanwhile, Denisse Alvarado Vera of the Ecuadorian national team was the game’s top scorer with 9 goals.
The referees were the local duo Paolo Lujan and Jesús Ortíz Velásquez.
Chile vs Peru
Chile defeated Peru 42-13 in the first semifinal. With this result, the Chilean team advanced to the championship final and also qualified for the SCA Tournament, which awards spots in the World Cup.
Amanda Riquelme of Chile scored 10 goals and was named MVP of the match. The game was officiated by the Brazilian duo of Pamela Ferreira de Souza and Natany Valentim de Lima.
Uruguay vs. Venezuela
In the final match of the day, Uruguay defeated Venezuela 32-15, allowing Leonardo Puñales’s team to advance to the final, where they will face Chile.
The game’s MVP was the captain of the Uruguayan team, Paula Eastman, who scored 6 goals. The match was officiated by the Argentine refereeing duo of Tomás Carrizo and Francisco Cistriano.
With this result, Chile and Uruguay both qualified for the South and Central American Tournament to be held in December.

This tournament is the first event in South America, and Central America will host the next one from September 29 to October 3.
Each championship will awardtwo spots per subcontinentfor the qualifying tournament for the Women’s Senior World Championship, which will take place in December.
This marks the start of the journey toward the 28th IHF World Championship (Germany and the Netherlands 2027) for emerging nations.
