The Handball Libertadores has its semifinalists! On the third day of competition, Sedalo, Jockey Club Córdoba, Pinheiros, and Layva secured their spots in the next round.
SUMMARY OF THE DAY’S COMPETITION:
SEDALO (ARG) vs. TORRENSE (BRA)
Sedalo soundly defeated Torrense 36-36 in the first game of the day.
The team coached by Fernando García managed to dominate on defense and unleash their full offensive power on the counterattack.
As a result, the Argentine women finished first in Group C and advanced to the semifinals.

JOCKEY CLUB (ARG) vs. FMO PORTUGUÊS (BRA)
In Group D, Jockey and FMO Português played a closely contested first half, going into halftime tied at 11-11.
In the second half, the Jockey Club team stepped up its defense and capitalized on its opponent’s turnovers to extend its lead.
Goalkeeper Verónica Guerrico had a standout performance and was named the game’s MVP. The No. 12 player was instrumental in the final minutes of the game.
Jockey Club Córdoba defeated FMO / Português, coached by Cristiano Rocha, 27-22.
This Thursday at 5:00 p.m., Sedalo will face Jockey Club in the first semifinal at the Ueno Arena COP.

PINHEIROS (BRA) vs. SCUOLA ITALIANA (URU)
In the third match of the day in Group B, Pinheiros and Scuola were vying for a spot in the semifinals.
The first half was very close; both teams played solid defense, but the Brazilians managed to close out the half with a 12-11 lead.
In the second half, Mauricio Antonucci’s team was able to impose its style of play and be more effective on offense. It was a victory for Pinheiros 25–17. Mariana Merlin was named the game’s MVP.

LAYVA (URU) vs. VILO (ARG)
The end of the day was full of excitement, as Layva and Vilo battled it out for a spot in the semifinals.
The start of the game was evenly matched, with control of the game shifting back and forth. The Uruguayan team managed to finish the first half stronger and went into halftime with a 13-10 lead.
The game remained tied in overtime. Layva went 8 minutes without scoring, which allowed Vilo to take the lead.
Toward the end, Hernan Siso’s team struggled to finish their chances. Layva won by the narrowest of margins, 22-21.
This Thursday at 8:00 p.m., Layva will face Pinheiros in the second semifinal at the Ueno Arena COP.
