First day of the SCA U-15 and U-16 Handball Tournament in Asunción. The competition runs through August 8, and the men’s division will award two spots in the World Championship.
CEO Stadium
Argentina vs Peru (men)
In the first game of the day, Argentina defeated Peru 39-12; Rubén Busolin’s team earned two points in the standings.
The MVP of the game was Juan Bonino. Top scorers, with four goals each, were Lautaro Lazarte, Juan Bonino, Santiago Gesino, Santino Ferri, and Gonzalo Perznianko.
Argentina vs. Chile (Women’s)
The Argentine team scored a resounding 36-15 victory over the Chilean team in the second match played at CEO Stadium. Rebeca Lopes was named the game’s MVP and was also the top scorer with 8 goals.
Chile vs Paraguay (men)
In their last game at CEO Stadium, Chile defeated Paraguay 28-17, and the team coached by Matías Salinas secured its first victory.
The MVP was Tomás Lladser, who also scored 6 goals.
COP Arena Stadium
Brazil vs. Peru (Women’s)
At the Arena COP stadium, the Brazilian women’s team earned their first victory against Peru, 39–21. Luiza Franco was named MVP and also led the game in scoring with 8 goals.
Brazil vs. Uruguay (men’s)
At the COP Arena In the match between Brazil and Uruguay, Marcus Oliveira’s team secured a 26-19 victory over Uruguay.
Despite the result, Uruguayan goalkeeper Lucas Parodi had an outstanding performance and was named MVP. The game’s top scorers, with five goals each, were Antonio Locoselli of Brazil and Felipe Guillermo of Uruguay.
Paraguay A vs. Paraguay B (women’s)
Fnal match of the first round was played at the Arena COP stadium in front of a large crowd. The Paraguay A national team defeated Paraguay B 26-22.
The MVP was Tiziana Devaca, who scored 7 goals for Paraguay A.
