Uruguay goes to the World Cup. At the closing of the SCA Phase 2 Beach Handball Tournament, Maximiliano Malfatti’s team won the ticket to the World Cup.
In the morning they defeated Peru 2-0 and in the afternoon in a thrilling game they beat Chile 2-0.
Uruguay vs Peru
With an organized, collective and offensive game, Uruguay won the first set 24:6 against the Peruvian team coached by Alexander Diaz.
In the second set Uruguay sealed a perfect victory, dominating the game from start to finish. The sky-blue team won 18:0.
Uruguay’s Federica Duran was named MVP of the game.

Uruguay vs Chile
The definition of Phase 2 was played in the afternoon at Punta Rocas beach. There, Uruguayan and Chilean players gave us an exciting match.
The first set had an even game, both teams did not take advantage on the scoreboard. With 8 seconds left in the set they were tied 16:16.
After a time out requested by coach Maximiliano Malfatti, Ana Iglesias scored 1 point and closed the first set 17:16 in favor of the Charrúas.
In the second set Uruguay sealed the victory 18:14, with this 2-0 result and undefeated the Uruguayan team qualified to the next beach handball world championship to be held in June in Croatia.
Ana Iglesias, the captain of the Uruguayan national team, was elected the MVP of the match.

Delegates and referees
During the three days of competition, the matches were refereed by the duo of Lucas Brasil and Wictor Santos of Brazil and the delegates Luis Mónico of Uruguay and Luiz Filipe Caldas of Brazil.
Heading to Croatia
It should be recalled that this Phase 2 of Beach Handball SCA Women’s awarded the last available place for South America to the world championship.
The event will be held at Lake Jarun in Zagreb, Croatia from June 23 to 28, 2026.
The representatives will be Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay in the women’s division. In the men’s in the men’s will be present Brazil and Argentina.
