As for the men’s teams, Heraklion 2022 was a surprise and a historic tournament for all the teams.
Firstly, Uruguay and Ecuador made history on Greek soil. The Celeste team achieved their best-ever performance at a Beach Handball World Cup, reaching 6th place in the world rankings, a position that far surpasses the 15th place they secured at Kazan 2018.

Ecuador thus concludes its participation with five victories on its World Championship debut.
