Sedalo Wins the Handball Libertadores Championship! They clinched first place in the SCA Women’s Club Handball Championship after defeating Pinheiros 24–23 in a very physical and intense final that was decided in the final seconds.
The Brazilian team got off to a better start and quickly took a 3-0 lead. Sedalo fought back and managed to tie the score, although a few turnovers and offensive errors allowed Pinheiros to regain the lead.
As the minutes ticked by, the Argentine team improved defensively and managed to turn the game around. At the 17-minute mark, they took a 9-8 lead and began to play better on both defense and offense.
As the first half came to a close, Dolores García stepped up on the final play to score and give Sedalo a 12-11 lead heading into halftime.
Second half
In the second half, Sedalo came out determined to extend its lead and went on a scoring run that put it ahead 16-11.
However, the 5-1 defense deployed by Pinheiros complicated Argentina’s offense and prompted a reaction from Mauricio Antonucci’s team, which got back into the game and managed to take the lead in the final stretch.
The game remained intense right up until the final minutes, and with four minutes left on the clock, the score was tied at 23.
Finally, Oriana Lezana scored the goal that gave Sedalo the lead, and in the final play of the game, Claribel Gerez saved the shot that could have tied the game for Pinheiros.
Sedaló won 24–23, avenging their loss from the previous tournament and claiming the title of champion of the 2026 SCA Club Handball Tournament.
The game’s MVP was Miranda Kruk, who led the Argentine offense with eight goals and an 89% shooting percentage.
