Argentina’s national team is in the final of the SCA U16 Women’s Handball Championship after defeating Uruguay 29-16 in Asuncion.
The victory of the Argentines meant their fourth consecutive victory in the tournament advancing to the final.
Argentina quickly got on the scoreboard thanks to their aggressive defense and effective counterattacks.
The connection between the wingers and the center was key; they took advantage of every Uruguayan mistake to launch quick attacks that destabilized the Uruguayan defense.
At halftime, the scoreboard reflected a resounding 12-6 in favor of the Argentines.
This result was due not only to their offensive capacity, but also to a solid defensive performance, where the goalkeeper stood out with several key interventions, keeping Uruguay at bay.
In the second half, Argentina continued to show their superiority.
They increased the difference in the scoreboard through a more aggressive strategy in defense, which pressured Uruguay and limited their attacking options.
Luciana Salvadó’s team maintained a good rotation and control of the ball, making it difficult for the Uruguayan team to create opportunities, which could not find spaces to counter the game. Argentina finally advanced to the final, winning 29-16.
This victory allows Argentina to surpass its position of the previous year, when they won the bronze medal behind Brazil and Paraguay.
Now, they will seek the title in the grand final.
The top scorer of the match was Antonella Quiroz of Argentina with 6 goals. On the Uruguayan side, Guillermina Vidal and Julieta Villar were Uruguay’s top scorers with 5 goals each.
