Handball at the 2026 South American Games in Santa Fe. The women’s competition will take place from September 16 to 20, and the men’s tournament from September 22 to 26.
The women’s and men’s teams will compete for medals at the new Estadio Invencible Santa Fe.
Argentina will host some of the region’s top teams, andthe tournament will award two spots per sport for the upcoming 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.
The countdown to the 13th South American Games in Santa Fe 2026 has already begun, and handball will be one of the sports that draws the most attention during this major South American sporting event.
From September 12 to 26, Santa Fe, Rosario, and Rafaela will host more than 4,000 athletes from 15 countries at an event featuring 43 sports and 60 disciplines.
Handball in Santa Fe
In the case of handball, the entire tournament will take place in the city of Santa Fe, at the recently inaugurated Estadio Invencible Santa Fe, a venue built at the High-Performance Sports Center (CARD).
The venue has a capacity of 3,472 spectators and was designed as part of the infrastructure legacy that the Games will leave for sports in the province.
Ten days of nothing but handball
The competition will be divided into two stages. The women’s tournament will be held from September 16 to 20, while the men’s tournament will take place from September 22 to 26.
Six teams will compete in both divisions, and the format will be round-robin.
In the women’s competition, the teams will be Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, and Colombia, while in the men’s competition , the teams will be Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Chile, Peru, and Brazil.
For Argentina, in addition to the chance to compete for a medal in front of its home crowd, the South American Games represent a major challenge within the new Olympic cycle leading up to Los Angeles 2028.
The Invencible Santa Fe Stadium will be the venue for all the matches.
Tournament will also feature a special incentive: the top two teams in each division will earn spots at the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

The participating countries in the women’s division are: Argentina, Chile, Colombia, Paraguay, Peru, Uruguay.
