Brazil failed against the last Olympic champion

Brazil could not defeat the last Olympic champion. Second defeat for the Brazilians 26-20 against France, current Olympic champion (Tokyo 2020), for the third date of group B.

Two important matches remain for the Brazilians, who must win to advance to the next round.

The team coached by Cristano Rocha, opened the scoreboard but immediately France did the same and Brazil was not able to be in front at any time of the game. The first half ended 14-11 in favor of the hosts. The difference was in the effectiveness of the shots on goal, France converted 60% of their shots and the green and yellow team only 42%.

Up France

In the second 30 minutes of the game, the French won from the start, with a partial difference of 6-1. A brilliant performance by player Pauletta Fopa and Laura Glauser’s saves were key. Despite the good performance of the Brazilian goalkeepers, Gabriela Moreschi and Renata de Arruda finished the match with 43% effectiveness.

Captain Bruna de Paula was the top scorer of the game with 7 goals.

It was a 26-20 victory for France, and with this result, the French women made it to the quarterfinals and Brazil needs to win in their next two matches. The touch of color was provided by the local crowd that made itself felt throughout the match.

Brazil will play this Thursday, August 1 at 4:00 a.m. and on Saturday, August 3 at 9:00 a.m. in the closing match of the group stage.
