It was a day full of excitement at the South American Games: Peru defeated Paraguay, then Chile did the same against Brazil, and to close out the day, Argentina beat Uruguay.
On the fourth day of competition at the Invencible Santa Fe tournament, the crowd turned out again this Friday to cheer on the teams vying for a spot on the podium and the two qualifying spots for Lima 2027.
Summary of Day 4
Peru vs. Paraguay
At 2:30 p.m., the Peruvian and Paraguayan teams kicked off the day’s matches at Invencible Stadium. In a thrilling game, Peru defeated Paraguay 23-19.
During the first half, Paraguay committed several forced errors, while their opponent took advantage of quick breaks to build a lead, sending the teams into halftime with Peru leading 10-8.

In the second half, Iván Bendezú’s team took the field determined to win the match; Peru improved its defense and solidified its offense. Paraguay saw its goalkeeper, Matías Chávez, sent off, followed minutes later by player Juan Alonso.
The top scorer of the match was Jordan Araya with 6 goals, followed by Giancarlo Trelles with 5 goals.
Chile vs. Brazil
Cheered on by the crowd, the second match of the day took place on Friday, with Chile defeating Brazil 31-30 and securing its spot at Lima 2027.
In the first half, Aitor Echaburu’s team managed to go into halftime with a 17-13 lead. The Chileans put together a strong offensive performance, while Brazil struggled with defensive lapses and missed shots.

In the second half, Chile tightened up its defense and improved its counterattack, managing to extend its lead to 3 goals, but in the final minutes, Brazil imposed its style of play and closed the gap to one goal.
In the end, Chile secured a narrow victory.
The top scorer of the match was Brazil’s Washington Silva with 11 goals, while for Chile, Nicolás Morales and Erwin Feuchman each scored 7 goals.
Uruguay vs. Argentina
In the final game of the day , Argentina defeated Uruguay 31-17 and qualified for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima.

The Albiceleste clearly dominated from start to finish, while Uruguay was unable to keep up with the pace of the game, committing unforced errors and missing shots.
Rodolfo Jung’s team heads into the final day of competition undefeated, aiming to take home the gold.
For La Celeste, Giovanni Capello scored 5 goals, while Lionel Moyano also scored 5 goals for the Gladiadores.

The tournament ends this Saturday. Starting at 8:30 a.m., Brazil will face Peru; at 11:00 a.m., Uruguay will face Paraguay; and to close out the tournament at 1:30 p.m., Argentina will face Chile in the gold medal match.
It’s worth noting that Argentina and Chile have qualified for the 2027 Pan American Games in Lima. The Brazilian team has already qualified.
