Youth Olympic Games, Dakar 2026 will feature 16 teams competing in beach handball.
Last Wednesday, July 22, the draw took place at the headquarters of the International Handball Federation (IHF) in Basel, Switzerland.
Groups Set
In the men’s competition, Group A consists of: Germany, Tunisia, Thailand, and the Cook Islands. Group B, meanwhile, consists of Brazil, Hungary, Puerto Rico, and Senegal.
In the women’s competition, Group A features Spain, Croatia, the People’s Republic of China, and Mexico, while Group B includes: Uruguay, France, Kenya, and Senegal.
Looking back at the most recent edition of the World Cup in Tunisia, Germany finished as runner-up in the men’s U-17 World Cup. Tunisia, for its part, finished in fifth place in that tournament.
In Group B, South America’s representative, Brazil, won the bronze medal at the World Championship in this category and will face Hungary again, which finished fourth.
The Uruguayan women’s team, which finished fifth at the 2025 World Championship, will face France, Kenya, and Senegal in Group B.

Dakar 2026
Dakar 2026 beach handball tournament will take place over five days, from Monday, November 9, through Friday, November 13. The venue will be Saly Beach West, a popular seaside resort and tourist destination located in the Thiès region on Senegal’s Petite Côte.
The 2026 Dakar Youth Olympic Games will be held from October 31 to November 13 in Senegal, marking the second time that beach handball has been included in the Olympic Games, following its debut at the 2018 Youth Olympic Games in Buenos Aires, Argentina.
Dakar 2026 will be the fourth edition of the Youth Olympic Games, following its debut in Singapore (2010), Nanjing, China (2014), and Buenos Aires, Argentina (2018).
