The SCA U-15 and U-16 Tournament continues in Asunción

The SCA U-15 and U-16 Tournament continues in Asunción. On the third day of competition, the semifinalists were determined in the girls’ division, while in the boys’ division, Argentina and Chile lead the standings.

On the third day of competition, three women’s matches were played at the CEO Stadium, while three men’s matches were played at the COP Arena.

CEO Stadium

The first match of the day was a 30-24 victory for Argentina over Uruguay. Juana Valle was named the game’s MVP. Meanwhile, Julieta Martínez was the top scorer with 5 goals.

Paraguay B and Peru played their second match, and the team coached by José Rodríguez defeated the Peruvian team 36-25.

The game’s MVP was Adriana Torres of Peru, who also scored 6 goals for her national team.

The team coached by Wilson Alfonso faced off against its Brazilian counterpart. Paraguay A won 25-22 against Brazil, and with this result , Paraguay A secured first place in Group B’s standings.

Amapola Cuevas was named MVP, and Manuella Fraga of Brazil was the game’s leading scorer with 7 goals.

Women’s standings

Schedule set for this Friday, August 6

COP Arena Stadium

The first match at the COP Arena was between Chile and Peru in the men’s division, The Chileans won the match 28-18.

The MVP was Matías Donoso of Chile, and the top scorer of the match was Alejandro Navarro of Peru with 5 goals.

Paraguay and Uruguay faced off in the second match; Nicolás Sintas’s team secured its first victory, 30-21, against its Paraguayan counterpart.

The MVP was goalkeeper Felipe Villar of Uruguay, who received the award from Uruguayan Ambassador Marcelo Blanco.

At the end of Day 3, the South American classic between Argentina and Brazil took place.

The Argentine national team clearly dominated the game, taking advantage of gaps in the Brazilian defense during the first half to build a lead and close out the half with a score of 17-14.

In overtime, Argentina stepped up its offense and, backed by a solid defense, secured a 28-24 victory over Brazil.

Coscabal President Marcel Mancilla presented the award to the MVP, Gonzalo Perznianko.
