VILO: tradition and competition. The senior women’s handball team remains among the best in the competition in Argentina and will be present at the SCA of Clubs from June 15 to 19 in Asunción.
In 2026 the club inaugurated its second court. They have all categories from mini to juniors with two women’s teams and two men’s teams.
In the senior category they have three women’s and three men’s teams with a great structure.
Competitions and players
The senior women’s team competes in the Fe.Me.Bal Honor League and placed third on the podium at the 2025 National Tournament.
They also participated in the 2017 Pan American Championship.
Goalkeeper, Leila Niño one of its stars, was part of the Argentine national team in the World Cups 2019 Kumamoto, 2021 Spain and 2023 Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Goalkeeper
“Expectations are high. We know we are going to face very competitive teams, but we are confident in our work and in the group we have.
Our goal is to represent VILO in the best way, to reach the finals and fight for a place on the podium,” said Niño.said Niño.
Regarding the level of goalkeepers in the tournament, Leila expressed that she knows the high level she will encounter.
“… I also had the opportunity to play against many of them. For example, I consider Pinheiros’ goalkeeper to be one of the best in the continent, and it is a pleasure to be able to compete against players of that level.”
“I think that today the goalkeeping position is one of the most important in a team, because many times it can define key moments of a game.
That’s why I’m convinced that we’re going to see a very high level from that spot throughout the tournament.”
Another of its outstanding figures is Lucila Balsas, who wears the VILO t-shirt and is part of the adult beach handball team that will be competing in the World Championship of the discipline in Croatia.
One of the key players of the squad is Daniela Moreno.
But and in this edition of the SCA Tournament the VILO team has reinforcements: Maira Carletti and Paloma Satto from River Plate, also Yamila Baggio from Ferro Carril Oeste.
Siso authoritative word
Hernán Sisa, who joined the senior women’s team in 2023, is accompanied by Carla Pochettino, kinesiologist, Camila Canelo, physical trainer, and César Rasguido in technical assistance.
Ignacio Gerbaudo as delegate and Evelyn Feijoo as Team Manager are also part of the staff.
“The preparation is going very well, the girls are motivated and eager to participate and put VILO at the top of South America knowing how difficult it is”, said Siso.
“It is a pride to lead VILO for everything it has given me in this time and how the players have progressed.”
Siso highlights the constant growth of VILO’s handball thanks to the work of the entire coaching staff, subcommittee and board of directors who will travel to the tournament in Asuncion to accompany the team.

Especially, Leila expressed that VILO is a place that opened its doors to her when she needed it most and embraced her from the very first moment.
“I will always be grateful to my teammates and Hernan Siso for making every day at the club so enjoyable and full of love.
Representing VILO is a huge pride, and every time I am on the field I will try to give back, with total dedication, everything the club has given me during this time”.
Finally, VILO’s handball stadium is considered one of the best municipal facilities in the metropolitan area. It has even been used for training with Argentina’s national team, La Garra.
