Scuola Italiana present at the SCA Men’s Club Tournament the team from Montevideo will compete in the tournament that grants a place for the Club World Cup.
Handball in SIM started in 1977, being one of the founding institutions of the Uruguayan Handball Federation.

How are you preparing for the SCA Tournament?
The preparation is going very well, with a lot of intensity and commitment from the group. We are working very hard in all aspects to arrive in the best way to this tournament.
There is a lot of motivation to compete in the tournament, the team is eager to measure itself, grow and represent the Scuola in the best way.
We know that we are going to face high-level teams, and precisely that motivates us even more to compete, to demand and grow match by match.
What does SIM mean to Rodrigo Botejara?
Scuola Italiana is my second home.I am very proud to have been linked to it for 26 years. Here I grew up, learned and shared a large part of my life, going through every stage: from student and player to today as a coach.
It is a great privilege to be part of this institution. All the path I have taken has been possible thanks to the work, commitment and constant support of the Scuola. That is why I value so much to belong to SIM and to represent these colors in every challenge we face.
Outstanding players
Among the main recent references of the squad are: Facundo Listón (captain), Agustín Rodríguez, Maximiliano De Agrela and Federico Rubbo, the latter two were among the top scorers of the 2025 tournament.

What do you highlight about the preparation for the SCA Tournament? Are there any extra activities in addition to the usual preparation?

As captain, do you feel more responsibility?
Being captain of this institution is much more than just wearing a ribbon, it is about transmitting and defending the values that Scuola Italiana represents.
It is from these values that we want to achieve our sporting objectives. To be able to represent this institution and my teammates as captain is something I live with great pride and commitment.
This school trains people for life, and understanding that makes the responsibility enormous.

Within Uruguayan handball, Scuola Italiana is recognized for its training capacity in all categories, for its competitive continuity and its frequent participation in national competitions.
The club also has a sporting tradition within the Italian community of Montevideo and maintains school and federated training programs.
