Argentina and Brazil have qualified for the World Cup. After four matches, “La Garra” and “Las Leonas” remain unbeaten and will contest the title of the South-Central Senior Women’s Tournament.
The title will be decided this Saturday at 8.00 pm in Buenos Aires
Brazil vs Paraguay
In the first match, Brazil needed just 15 minutes to assert their dominance over Paraguay and establish an early 10-goal lead. This advantage grew, with the match ending 47–20.
With this victory, Cristiano Rocha’s side remain unbeaten in all three of their matches and will look to continue this run against the hosts in a new edition of the South American derby to close out the competition.
Argentina vs Chile
In the second match, Argentina and Chile faced off, with the winning team set to secure qualification for the World Cup.
‘La Garra’ controlled the match with quick transitions and a solid defence, which allowed them to pull ahead by eight goals in the second half and seal a 26-18 victory.
Tribute to Crivelli
After the match had finished, the Argentine Handball Confederation paid tribute to Victoria Crivelli for her career with the national team, a moment that moved both the players and the crowd.
Argentina and Brazil’s victories on matchday four have secured them the much-coveted places at the World Cup and kept them unbeaten.
Consequently, this South American derby is set against the backdrop of an ideal scenario, with both teams set to decide the title of the South-Central Senior Women’s Tournament this Saturday, 19 November, at 8.00 pm.
