Main Round of the Beach Handball World Championships in Greece. On the second day of the 2022 Heraklion Senior Men’s and Women’s Championships.
32 participating teams
Twelve teams have progressed to the next round, including the South American representatives: Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay.
In the women’s competition, Argentina and Brazil finished the preliminary phase with a record of two wins and one defeat, placing them second in their respective groups (Group C and Group D).
Following the “Kamikazes” in the table were the Celestes, who finished third in Group C after securing their first win of the tournament so far against Australia.
Thus, all three teams have progressed in the most important tournament in beach handball.

Men’s competition
Brazil ended the preliminary round on a high note after beating Portugal. The reigning champions finished top of Group D and go through to the Main Round unbeaten.
Although they failed to beat the home side today, Argentina also progressed to the next stage of the tournament after finishing third in Group A. So far, the Albicelestes have one win and two defeats.
Uruguay, for their part, secured their qualification after beating Ecuador in the South American clash. The Charrúas finished second in Group D, whilst the Ecuadorian side finished fourth, missing out on the Main Round.
Despite this, Ecuador will continue to participate in the World Cup in the Consolation Round, the stage preceding the matches to determine final placings.

The South American teams are thus continuing to compete in Greece, and tomorrow they will face the first day of the Main Round and the Consolation Round.
