The SCA Women’s Club Handball Tournament has begun in Asunción, Paraguay. The Olympic Training Center hosted the first day of competition.
SUMMARY OF THE DAY’S COMPETITION:
Internacional (PAR) vs. Jockey Club (ARG)
Jockey Club Córdoba soundly defeated Internacional of Paraguay 38–17.
The argentine team went into halftime with a 17-10 lead and extended their lead in the second half to seal the victory.
Irina Olmos was the top scorer of the match and was named MVP, while goalkeeper Verónica Guerrico put in an outstanding performance, saving 39% of the shots on goal.

Goes (URU) vs. Pinheiros (BRA)
The uruguayan women surprised everyone with a significant 25-25 draw against the São Paulo-based Pinheiros team.
Throughout the game, neither team managed to pull ahead on the scoreboard. Goes kept up the pace until the end and secured a valuable result against one of the title contenders.
Luana Pintos was the top scorer for the Uruguayan team with 7 goals, while Mariana Merlin, with 5 goals, led Pinheiros’ offense.
Goalkeeper Viviana Hergatacorzian was named MVP thanks to her 31% save percentage.

Maringá (BRA) vs. Layva (URU)
Layva defeated Maringá 27-21 in a match it dominated for most of the game.
Although the Uruguayan women didn’t pull ahead on the scoreboard until the second half, they maintained control and secured a solid victory.
Camila Bianco was the standout player of the game. She led Layva’s offense with 12 points and was named MVP.

Cerro Porteño (PAR) vs. Sedalo (ARG)
In the evening, in the final match of the day, Sedalo defeated Cerro Porteño 25–19. Fernando García’s team secured a crucial victory and earned two points in the standings.
Dolores García was named MVP of the game, while Alejandra Velásquez was the top scorer with 7 goals.
