Handball Throne: Discover the SCA Handball Clubs Historical Ranking. The history of the sport is not written only with the last result; it is built with consistency and presence.
After the closing of the 2025 season, we are proud to present the Historical Club Ranking.
An official ranking designed to do justice to each participation since the start of the tournament in 2021, valuing the ability to overcome rivals year after year.
How is the Club Historical Ranking constructed?
Not all years are the same and our scoring system understands this.
To determine who is the “Best in History,” we have implemented a mathematical methodology for the Club History Ranking that weighs two key factors:
1. The Value of the Track Record (Participation Points)
We recognize the pioneer clubs. Therefore, the founding years have a higher weight. A team present in 2021 (when the tournament had 4 teams) receives a basis of 4 points, while in 2025 the basis is 1 point.
This rewards loyalty and support for the growth of the championship.
2. Normalized Performance (Sports Efficiency)
Given that the number of participants has grown from 4 to 16 teams in men’s and 12 in women’s, it would not be fair to compare a third place in a linear fashion.
-
The Formula: We use an “Outperformed Rivals” system.
-
The Result: The champion always scores 10 performance points and the last one scores 0. Thus, the intermediate positions reflect the real difficulty of competing in a larger table.

What is the purpose of this scale?
The Club Historical Ranking provides COSCABAL with a technical element to grant wild cards or invitations in the annual editions, as long as there are places available after the country allocations.
In addition, this ranking adds to the analysis of the continental development of our sport, allowing an objective evaluation of the inclusion of new applicants and markets in the growth of regional handball.
Analysis of the Historical Ranking of the Clubs by Branches
Men’s Branch: Hegemony at Stake
In the men’s category, the battle for the top is a matter of consistency.
Clubs such as Taubaté and Pinheiros of Brazil have maintained a constant pulse since 2021, demonstrating that their level does not drop despite increased competitiveness.
Meanwhile, teams such as San Fernando (ARG) and Nacional (BRA) have shown meteoric growth that threatens to upset the established order.
Women’s Branch: Growth and Talent

The women’s ranking highlights the impact of regional developments.
With editions of up to 12 teams, the merit of clubs such as Pinheiros and River Plate is remarkable, and they have remained at the forefront in a sustained manner.
The Ranking also reveals the efforts of Ovalle (CHI) and Scuola Italiana (URU), whose historical permanence allows them to climb positions against teams with sporadic participation.
