Argentina and Brazil failed to pick up any points on the second day of the 2022 IHF Junior Women’s World Championship in Slovenia. Meanwhile, Chile had a bye.
Albiceleste defeat
At the Dvorana Golovec Celje arena, Argentina faced Montenegro, a team known for its strong performance in world handball, in a match that remained very evenly balanced throughout the first half.
However, in the second half of the match, the Albicelestes were unable to keep up with the European side and lost 20-31.
As a result, Argentina remain in 3rd place in Group C and must secure a win to have any hope of progressing to the next round.
Brazilian defeat
Minutes later, Brazil played in the same arena against Norway, in a match they were unable to dominate, with the Norwegians closing out the game 32-24.
For now, the Brazilians have suffered two defeats and must win their final preliminary round match to have any chance of qualifying for the Main Round.
