The final of the SCA Handball Club Championship pitted Pinheiros of Brazil against River Plate of Argentina. A match full of emotions was played at the Ginásio Poliesportivo Raphael Martins Dos Santos where the Pinheiros team became the “three-time champion” of the third edition of the Handball Libertadores.
The first 30 minutes were worthy of a real final, goal by goal the game took pace and the protagonists proposed a dynamic game with a lot of friction.
Halfway through the first half, the team coached by Mauricio Antonucci, took advantage of River Plate’s attacking mistakes and went to the dressing room with the score 10-6 in their favor.
At the beginning of the second half, Pinheiros continued to extend its lead, was strong on defense and deployed its attacking potential. River Plate, on the other hand, was unable to convert on their approaches due to the incredible saves of goalkeeper Jessica Oliveira.
Nicolás Margari’s team fought until the end but could not close the gap on the scoreboard. The good game of the Brazilians was demonstrated with the final score 25-16, thus Pinheiros won the title of the third edition and was crowned as three-time champion of the SCA Handball Club Championship played in San Jose, Brazil from May 21 to 25, 2024. The MVP of the match was Fernanda Couto.
