Women in Handball: Giuliana Gavilán and Mariana Amarilla. Voices of protagonists who inspire and delight us with their talent inside and outside the 40×20.

Women’s handball continues to grow exponentially in South America and goes hand in hand with the effort and talent of many athletes who represent their countries.

Among them are Giuliana Gavilán, an Argentinean player, and Mariana Amarilla, a Paraguayan player, who have excelled in this discipline.

From Cordoba to the world

Giuliana is from the city of Villa María in the province of Córdoba, Argentina. Her perseverance and good performance took her to Europe from where she tells us that 8M is a day of reflection, recognition and struggle.
“It is a time to value the strength, resilience and critical role of women in all areas of society.”
“My referent is my mother, for her strength, her unconditional love and for everything she taught me throughout life.”
If you had to describe the woman in one word what would it be: “Resilience.”.

Mariana Amarilla leading the way

“I live International Women’s Day as a time to reflect and appreciate all that women have achieved throughout history.”

“It is an opportunity to recognize the struggle, the effort and the important role that women have in society, in the family, in sports and in many other areas.”

The young woman, who has been making her mark as a child wearing the Paraguayan national team jersey, describes the woman in just one word: “Fortaleza”.

“Because women have a great capacity to face challenges, get ahead and keep fighting for their dreams.”

To close, his referent woman:

“She will always be my mom. Because she is the one who every day shows me what perseverance, dedication and all the values that I keep in mind today and that shape me as a woman are.”
