Brazil champion of the Trophy + Handball SCA U18 Men! The closing of the championship had a great match in the final played at the Polideportivo Alexis Argüello. Argentina and Brazil starred in the South American classic that crowned the Brazilians by 19-17.
First half
Brazil hit the ground running and quickly jumped out to a 3-0 lead.. The green and yellow team with a solid defense made it difficult for Argentina’s offense, which had to work hard in attack to convert.
In addition, the positional team led by Dimas Lara was able to execute very good penetrations that resulted in goals.
Rodolfo Jung requested a time out, the Albiceleste reacted and improved their defense, while Brazil began to miss their shots, forced to take long distance shots.
Despite the difficulties they had in the attack, Argentina was able to reduce the difference in the scoreboard and go to the break 6-7 in favor of Brazil.
Second half
The game continued to be tight in the second half, and this was reflected in the scoring. Argentina came out determined to win.
With an open defense they complicated Brazil’s attack and were able to steal several balls that they capitalized in goals. Thus they turned the game around and took a 12 -8 lead.
The clock was ticking down and the Argentineans began to suffer from positional complications, with repeated errors and turnovers that allowed Brazil to counter-attack.
With 17 minutes remaining, the Verdeamarela tied the game at 12. The performance of the goalkeepers of both teams was key to close the goals.
In the final minutes, Brazil was more effective in its shots. Thus, they defeated their classic rival 19-17 and were crowned continental champions.
The scorer of the match was George Siqueira with 7 goals, while Bautista Torossian scored 6 goals for Argentina.
