In the last match of the day, the positions of the most important U14 tournament in America were defined. After defeating Brazil 31-23, Paraguay A was crowned runner-up in the SCA U14 Men’s Handball Championship. A historic achievement for the Warriors, who had never won a podium in this championship. The first half started evenly, with Paraguay A being strong in defense. This generated mistakes in Brazil’s offense and ball stealing by the Guarani team. As a result, the team led by Rodrigo Rojas was always up on the scoreboard. In addition, at the end of the first half Mateo Giménez had a great performance under the 3 goal posts counteracting the attacks of the green and yellow team. On the Brazilian side, Joao Cipriano had a very good first half, generating most of his team’s dangerous chances. The locals went to the break leading 18 to 10.
This resulted in the number of exclusions of the Guarani team, although the Brazilians could not take advantage of having an extra player on the court.
With the help of their captain, Julio Recalde, and Alexander Velázquez, the warriors were very efficient in the attack and won the match by 31 to 23. The scorers of the match were Andre Gorte of Brazil with 7 and the Paraguayans Julio Recalde and Alexander Velazquez with 9 goals each. Brazil finished the tournament with 2 wins and 3 losses, while Paraguay A had 4 wins and only 1 loss against the champion, Argentina.
