Argentina dethrones Brazil and becomes champion in the SCA U16 Handball Championship! In a solid performance during the fifth day in Asunción, Argentina defeated Brazil 30-19 and was crowned champion.
With an outstanding performance by Antonella Quiroz and a great performance by their goalkeeper, the Albiceleste team confirmed their superiority in the competition.
Brenda Mendes broke the net by scoring the first goal of the match and the second goal soon followed after a steal, making it clear that the defending champions were looking for a second championship.
However, Antonella Quiroz led the Albiceleste equalizer, which left a very even first half, with a constant exchange of goals.
After the first 15 minutes, the team coached by Luciana Salvado managed to take advantage of the effectiveness of its wingers. At halftime, Argentina led 11-8.
In the second half, it was again Antonella Quiroz who started strongly for Argentina, extending the lead to 7 goals. The green and yellow team could not stop the Argentinean attack, which shone both on the wings and with powerful shots from 9 meters.
In addition, the Brazilians’ efforts were thwarted by outstanding saves from Argentine goalkeeper Esperanza Payero, who kept the lead firm.
Finally, after a sharp game and with Melina Cabrera on fire, Argentina became the new Under 16 SCA Handball champions, after a 30-19 victory over Brazil.
The top scorer of the match was Antonella Quiroz, with 7 goals, while for Brazil, Beatriz Santos led the attack with 5 goals.

But in the second half everything went as we wanted and we managed to get a good difference, now we just have to enjoy, we are champions in women and men and there is no greater joy than this”.
