Brazil’s 2019 Beach team won the debut edition of the ANOC World Beach Games in Doha, Qatar, in October, after going undefeated in winning the South and Central American Beach Handball Championship in 2019.

In Doha, they defeated some of the best teams in the world to claim gold, including Croatia, Spain and Qatar. Throughout 2019, as usual, players and coaches worked around the world, online and in person, to provide support, advice, training and playing time to the entire beach handball family to help develop the sport worldwide.

Every time Brazil arrives at the arena for any competition, the entire delegation plays instruments and sings songs, encouraging anyone to join in and celebrate the carnival of sport.
“We felt like we had to win this competition as it was the first and it was historic”, said specialist Bruno Carlos de Oliveira in Qatar, after scoring the winning point in the final throw to secure gold.

“That moment was spectacular, we want to win and make history, since no one can beat you if you are the first, even if you win the second time. We are always looking for history”, Oliveira added.

The World Games are a multi-sport event organized every four years by the International World Games Association under the sponsorship of the International Olympic Committee. The 11th edition of The World Games will be held in Birmingham, Alabama, United States, from July 15 to 25, 2021. 3,600 athletes from more than 30 sports and 100 countries will participate in the Games.
