Although Argentina played good games in the group stage -except with Chile where it had its worst performance-, it finished last and could not reach the round of 16. In their debut they lost 43-25 against Germany. They then lost 26-22 against Iceland. Already on the third date, they were beaten 31-23 by Denmark. At the same time, they fell with Chile 25-22. Finally, they closed the first round with a 31-21 defeat against Norway.
The team led by Fernando Capurro changed the image in the President’s Cup after achieving two victories. One against Kosovo and another against the United States, finishing in 21st place.
Post-match statements
David Hernán Schenkel: «Maybe it was not what we trained these last two years. We had played against the United States in Portugal but they have obviously improved a lot; The balance is positive but it was not what we expected.”
