During January, the Chilean team -along with 31 other teams- played the World IHF Adult Men’s Poland-Sweden 2023, the 7° world for Chile and the 6° for Erwin Feuchtmann.

The player who plays in the French club Fenix Toulouse Handball was placed in second place in the table of top scorers with 54 goalss, 6 goals less than the Danish champion Mathias Gidsel. Although “La Roja” failed to pass the preliminary phase of the tournament, the Chilean placed among the top 5 scorers and stands out in the list as the only South American.

“I am happy to contribute to the selection in that way. I feel good, I feel fit and I hope to continue like this for our next goal, the Pan American Games”, said the experienced player who seeks to continue adding alongside his team.

Although “Puma” as he is called in the French league was not satisfied with the 26° place of the world ranking -since the objective was to move to the Main Round- rescues two things from this new world participation: the collective game they demonstrated throughout the 7 encounters and the integration of young figures to the team: “I think one of the great advances that left this tournament is that young people contributed and had quality minutes, especially Matías Paya and Francisco Ahumada, who took a step forward”, said Feuchtmann.

In this way, , Chile closed its participation in the World Cup by advancing a place in the ranking and with a squad that improved and perfected its level of play with the help of the historical and future talents of the Chilean team.
