U20 Women’s World Championship will be played from June 24 to July 5, 2026 in the People’s Republic of China.
There will be 32 teams, the preliminary round will consist of eight groups of four teams each, and the top two from each group will advance to the main round.

Groups
China chose Group E, the Asian champions aiming to reach the main round, just as they did two years ago at the 2024 IHF Women’s World Youth Championship, where they finished 15th in the final standings.
Defending champions France will play in Group A alongside Egypt, Sweden and India, while European champions Germany have been drawn in Group C alongside Romania, Brazil and Canada.
Meanwhile, 2024 IHF Women’s Youth World Championship 2024 champions Spain will be back in the hunt for a medal, after taking silver at the 2025 EHF Women’s Under-19 European Championship, and will face mixed style teams in Group D, alongside South Korea, Argentina and Turkey.
In Group B, Austria and Serbia will face Angola and Paraguay in Paraguay. The Group with Croatia, Japan, Norway and a team still to be determined after the withdrawal of Australia.
Group F: Montenegro, Czech Republic, Iceland and the United States. In addition, Hungary, one of the medal favorites, is in Group G with Poland, Chinese Taipei and Tunisia.
Headquarters
Competition will be held from June 24 to July 5, 2026 at four stadiums in Jinzhong:
Municipal Gymnasium, Vocational and Technical College Gymnasium, Shanxi Medical University Zhongdu Campus Gymnasium and University Gymnasium.
Competition system
Top two teams from each group will advance to the main round, while the other two will participate in the President’s Cup. The top two teams from each group in the main round will qualify for the quarterfinals.
