In recent years, the participation of women in this field has grown significantly, not only as players but also in key roles within the game, such as refereeing.

This is the case of Mariana García, from Argentina, and Bruna García, from Brazil, two handball referees who represent the advancement and presence of women in the world of refereeing.

“8M is a very special day that invites us to reflect: it serves us to remember where we come from, to recognize where we stand today and to be clear about where we are going.”

Mariana maintains that it is a date that reaffirms the need to continue working every day so that women can occupy more and more leadership and decision-making spaces.

As for references, on a personal level, his grandmother is the one he admires.

“Although she is no longer physically with me today, I remember her with a great deal of love and deeply appreciate all the immense sacrifice she made for my sister and me.”

“He was one of those fundamental people who mark your life forever; someone who was always there, holding you back with a hug, a mate and a kiss.”

On the other hand, in the professional field of refereeing, her great references are the French sisters Charlotte and Julie Bonaventura.

“I had the great fortune to share several tournaments with them and I learned a lot watching them work closely.

They really are a source of pride and a great example to follow for women’s refereeing around the world”.

So, if you had to describe the woman in one word it would be, what would it be: “Resolute.”

“I think it is something that deeply characterizes us, because we are always looking for the twist and finding a solution to each of the problems and challenges we face.”
