Neven Ilic elected IOC member, the president of Panam Sports, became the new member of the Executive Committee of the International Olympic Committee.
The election was held at the 145th IOC Session in Milan, Italy. The Chilean starred in a tied vote with Italy’s Giovanni Malagó.
This is outstanding news for the American continent, which once again has a member on the IOC Executive Committee.
Chile on the move
It is worth noting that this is the most important position achieved by a Chilean leader in the history of the International Olympic Committee.
“This result is a source of tremendous pride. Pride for America and pride for Chile”.
“The truth is that there are many things to do and to be able to bring the voice of America, and the reality of each of our nations to the Executive Committee”, said an emotional Neven Ilic after the election. Neven Ilic.
“My mission has to do with the sport of the world, with the athletes and with bringing the reality of each of the 41 countries that are part of Panam Sports.”
“41 countries with different realities and it is important to be able to bring to the Executive Committee the ways to solve, continue supporting the athletes and make America grow more and more every day”, added Ilic.
Renewal
During the session, the membership was renewed for 8 more years to 1 members whose term of office will end in 2026, among them Paraguay’s Camilo Pérez López Moreira and Brazil’s Andrew Parsons.
Finally, the President of Panam Sports and now member of the IOC Executive Committee, Neven Ilic, expressed said:
“I want to thank everyone, thank my family, thank my friends who have been supporting, and everyone in the sport.”
The 145th IOC Session was held at the Milan Convention Center in the run-up to the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
