Group phase closed in the SCA U20 Handball. The South Central American + IHF Trophy Tournament being played in Asuncion, defined the semifinal crossings.
A day full of emotions was experienced on the third day of competition, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina and Paraguay took their victories.
Colombia vs El Salvador
The Colombian team coached by Monica Ospina defeated El Salvador 40-22, and with this victory will face Guatemala this Thursday at 2:00 pm.
Sara Arroyave was the top scorer of the match with 9 goals. It is important to remember that the team is playing for a place in the intercontinental phase of the IHF Trophy.

Brazil vs Chile
The Chileans needed a victory to dream of qualifying for the World Cup, but Francisco Ferreira’s unbeatable team imposed its rhythm of play and won the match.
The first half had good passages of the team coached by Guillermo Milano, Chile stood up in defense and with quick starts blocked the Brazilians for several minutes. They went to the break 13-7 in favor of Brazil.
In the second half, Brazil was more effective in their shots and was able to take advantage of Chile’s turnovers. It was a 25-15 victory for Brazil, who reached the semifinal and will face Uruguay this Thursday at 6:00 pm.
Jisseli Monteiro Da Silva scored 4 goals for Brazil, while Isidora Valdivieso of Chile also scored 4 goals. Both were the top scorers for their teams.
Argentina vs Uruguay
An exciting match was played between Argentina and Uruguay, with a first half with solid defenses for both teams.
The goalkeepers were the protagonists in preventing the scoreboard from ending with a low score and closing a partial 11-9 in favor of Argentina.
In the second half, the Albiceleste adjusted their defense and with a solid counterattack managed to get a goal difference, ending the match with a 25-19 victory.
The player Helena Molina with 6 goals was the top scorer for Argentina, who will play this Thursday’s semifinal at 8:00 p.m. against the local team.
Paraguay vs Guatemala
The locals were strong, they needed to win and so they did, with a large crowd they defeated Guatemala 33-25 and secured their place in the semifinals.
This Thursday at 8:00 p.m. they will play the pass to the final against the Argentines. It is important to remember that the championship grants 3 places to the World Championship of the category.
