Gold for Argentina at the closing of the SCA Senior Handball Championship held in Asuncion. The Gladiators defeated Brazil in the definition for the gold 25-26. Both qualified to the 2027 World Championship.
Chile and Uruguay also qualified for the next World Cup to be held in Germany next year.
Uruguay vs Peru
The team coached by Héctor Sintas beat Peru 37-16 and had to wait for the match between Chile and Paraguay to be decided.
Uruguayans overcame their rival with a neat game in defense and attack. The scorer of the match was Joaquín Tapia with 8 goals, on the Peruvian side Jesús Ortíz scored 6 goals. The MVP of the match was Cristhian Rostagno of Uruguay.
Chile vs Paraguay
An expected duel for the locals, who were playing for their last chance to qualify for the World Cup and had to win by a wide goal difference.
Finally, it was a 36-29 victory for Chile (qualified to the World Cup), the result left the locals with no chances. Paraguay will have to continue working to achieve their goal.
During the match they suffered two disqualifications and were unable to block the Chileans’ fast counterattacking starts.
Chile top scorer was Danilo Salgado with 10 goals, who was also voted MVP of the match. For Paraguay, José Luis Fiore and Ever Salinas scored 7 goals each.
With this result, Chile and Uruguay join Brazil and Argentina as the 4 qualifiers for the next World Cup 2027. In addition, the Chileans won the bronze medal in the South Central American Cup.
Brazil vs Argentina
The definition for the gold had an even match during the first half, the Brazilian defense was well positioned but Argentina went from strength to strength, managed to find the spaces and score to go to the break 12-14 in favor of the Albiceleste.
In the second half, both teams came out determined to win the match. The team coached by Rodolfo Jung showed an impeccable performance in defense, and Juan Bar’s saves were key. The Gladiadores, with a renewed squad, showed their power in attack.
During the second half the game went goal for goal, Brazil needed only a draw to win the gold medal, but after a turnover with less than a minute to play, Argentina converted and maintained the effectiveness of its defense to take the victory by a minimal difference.
Top scorer of the match was Rudolph Hackbarth with 7 goals, while in Argentina it was Nicolás Bono with 6 goals and he was also elected the MVP of the match.

Argentina was crowned champion of the South Central American Championship, Brazil took the silver medal and Chile won the bronze medal.
