Handball SCA U20 Women’s Qualifiers. From January 12 to 16 the South Central + Trophy Tournament will be played in Asuncion, which grants 3 places to the World Championship of the category.
The SCA U20 Women’s Handball SCA U20 Women’s Handball Tournament, which also features the IHF Trophy, gets underway.
The participating teams from South America are: Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Paraguay and Uruguay. Central America will be represented by: Colombia, El Salvador. Guatemala and Venezuela.
Competition system
Below we share with you the Championship system that will be played by groups. The teams will be divided into three groups, establishing their integration by order of merit and current ranking according to the last competition in which they participated (2023).
The following points are established as configuration reserves for the groups:
- Teams from the same IHF Trophy qualification zone may not share the same group.
- The winner of the Central American zone and the winner of the South American zone shall not be placed in the same group.
Allocation of Places to the IHF World Cup
The teams placed in the first 3 positions will qualify to the IHF World Championship of the category. Meanwhile, the teams coming from the Trophy zone, if they are placed in the first 3 places, will qualify directly to the IHF World Championship.
In addition, they will compete for the available place in the Intercontinental IHF Trophy Final. If a team coming from the IHF Trophy Zone achieves one of the qualification places to the World Cup of the category in which it participates and is the highest ranked among the teams coming from the IHF Trophy Zone, it will be eligible for the Intercontinental Phase of the IHF Trophy.
SCA Ranking
The SCA ranking is given by the version developed in November 2023 in Buenos Aires, Argentina:
- Argentina
- Brazil
- Chile
- Uruguay
- Peru (IHF Trophy 1 South)
- Guatemala (IHF Trophy 2 Center)
- Colombia (IHF Trophy 3 South)
- Costa Rica (IHF Trophy 4 Center)
Important: teams from the IHF Trophy 2025 Central and South America qualification zone enter with the following rankings:
1° CA Guatemala – 1° SA Colombia
2nd CA El Salvador – 2nd SA Venezuela
Paraguay did not participate in the last SCA Junior Women, so it enters in the last position of merit. The groups are formed as follows:
