After 5 days of intense competition, the men’s tournament closed with the Chilean section as champions after beating Venezuela 30-27.
Gold medal
The triumph not only gave Chile the gold medal, but also ratified its historic dominance in the discipline: with this victory, the men’s team achieved its third Bolivarian championship.
The final match showed a dynamic game, with both teams fighting until the last minute. But the hierarchy of the Chilean national team with solid defense, well-taken counterattacks and a consistent offense made the difference.
It was a victory and first place for Chile, the scorer of the game was Arian Delgado with 10 goals scored.
Impact on the medal table
This gold in men’s handball contributes to Chile’s best-ever performance in a Bolivarian Games: the delegation finished with 173 total medals, consolidating its place in fourth place in the overall medal count.
Final positions
The second place went to Paraguay, which defeated Bolivia 52-11 and won the silver medal, and the third step of the podium went to the Dominican Republic, which defeated Peru 38-22 in the second game of the last day to win the bronze medal.
