Brazil and Argentina advance to the World Cup Main Round to be played Championship in Germany and the Netherlands 2025.

Brazil secures its place in the next round

In the group stage of the World Cup held in Germany and the Netherlands, Brazil achieved a key victory: they beat Sweden 31-27, a historic result as it was the first time they had beaten the Swedes.

With this result they added 3 victories, beating Cuba 41-20, defeating the Czech Republic 28-22 and beating Sweden 31-27.

The Brazilians topped the Group G standings with 6 points.

For the Main Round, Brazil will face Korea this Wednesday at 2:00 p.m., and on Friday, December 5, they will play Angola.

Finally, on Sunday 7, they will face the powerful Norway at 4.30 p.m. in search of a place in the quarterfinals.

Authority, surprise and ambition

The Brazilian national team showed once again why it is the South American power in women’s handball. Its 31-27 victory over Sweden, one of the strongest teams on the European continent, not only surprised analysts and fans, but also guaranteed a place in the Main Round.

The Brazilian team led by Cristiano Rocha presented a compact and aggressive defense. Also, fast transitions, which dislocated Sweden in several passages of the match.

Brazil was crowned champion in 2013, a historic achievement for the region. In this 27th edition, they will be looking to be among the best eight.

Argentina also booked its ticket to the Main Round

The Argentine national team qualified after defeating Egypt 27-14 in its third match of the preliminary phase in Group E.

La Garra lost to the Netherlands 32-25 and to Austria 28-22. The victory against Egypt allowed them to add 2 points and to be in the third place in the standings.

Argentina will start its journey in the Main Round facing Poland this Thursday at 10:30 a.m., and then the powerful team of France on Saturday, December 6 at 12:00 p.m. and finally will play against Tunisia on Monday at 10:30 a.m.

Resilience, character and a triumph worth gold

La Garra once again lived up to its nickname. After two initial defeats against the Netherlands and Austria, the Argentine team put everything on the line against Egypt, and responded with a 27-14 win that put them in the Main Round.

The key factors in Argentina’s qualification were intense defense, fewer exclusions and fewer turnovers.

The growth in the attack was noticeable, which found variants and greater efficiency in its shots. This is the second time it has qualified for a main round.

The main objective will be to continue climbing positions in the international ranking.

Competition format. Brazil and Argentina advance

The tournament format establishes that the top three teams from each group qualify for the “Main Round”, while the fourth team goes on to compete in the “President’s Cup”.

In the Main Round, the teams are grouped again, and the top two from each group advance to the quarterfinals.

President’s Cup

Meanwhile, Paraguay and Uruguay will play their matches for the Copa Presidente. Both teams will face each other this Thursday, December 4, starting at 9:30 a.m.

On Saturday 6 Uruguay faces Croatia at 7.00 am and Paraguay plays Iran at 9.30 am. On Monday, December 8 Paraguay vs Croatia from 7.00 am and Uruguay at 9.30 am faces Iran.
