Vibrant day of definitions in Asuncion! On the fourth day of competition at the Handball SCA U18 + IHF Trophy Argentina and Brazil qualified to the final.
From 11:00 a.m. the Paraguayan Handball Confederation stadium hosted the games of the World Cup qualifying championship.
IHF Trophy
Guatemala vs. Costa Rica were the first to take the field. The Guatemalans sealed their 29-21 victory, which allowed them to advance to the 5:00 p.m. match against Venezuela.
The game’s top scorer was Sochil Cortés with 11 goals, who was also named MVP of the match. Meanwhile, Leidy Juarez of Guatemala scored 10 goals.
Peru vs Chile
In the second game of the day, the Chileans won against Peru by 37-22. The Peruvian team played a good retreat of their players but it was not enough.
Chile scored its first victory and this Friday will face Venezuela for the definition of the fifth and sixth places.

Paraguay played an even match and went into the first half up 14-11. In the second half they were superior for most of the match.
Brazil took advantage of the Paraguayans’ missed shots and put together a fast and effective counterattack that ended up giving them the victory in the final minutes.
The top scorer for the green and yellow team was Isabella Oliveira with 8 goals, who was also elected the MVP of the match. Meanwhile, Leticia Vargas of Paraguay scored 11 goals.
