Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games, the Los Angeles Organizing Committee (LA28) unveiled the complete program for the biggest sporting event to be held in July 2028 in the United States of America.
Prior to the Opening Ceremony, which will take place on Friday, July 14, 2028, the following competitions will commence Men’s and Women’s Handball competitions will be held at the Long Beach Arena..
Preliminary round in LA28
The men’s preliminary round will begin on Wednesday, July 12. Both competitions will alternate daily (no matches on Friday, July 14 due to the Opening Ceremony) until Saturday, July 22, when the women will play their last preliminary round.
Each day will consist of three sessions of two matches per session for a total of six matches per day.

Quarterfinals, semis and final in LA28
The quarterfinals will be played on Sunday, July 23 (men) and Monday, July 24 (women), before the men’s semifinals on Tuesday, July 25 and the women’s semifinals on Wednesday, July 26.
The closing of the competition crowns the Olympic champion in the men’s category on Thursday, July 27, while the women’s category will conclude the final on Friday, July 28.

The semifinals are played on Tuesday, July 25, 2028 at 9:30 – 11:30 and 13:00 – 15:00.
The men’s competition closes on Thursday, July 27, 2028 with the Men’s Bronze Medal Match 9:30-11:30 and the Men’s Gold Medal Final 13:00-15:30.

Meanwhile, the women’s semifinals are on Wednesday, July 26, 2028 9:30 – 11:30 and 13:00 – 15:00. On Friday, July 28, 2028, the bronze medal match will be played from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m. and the grand final for the gold medal from 13:00 – 15:30.
Women protagonists in LA28
The Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games will be the largest in history, with 51 sports at 49 competition venues spread across 18 zones in the Los Angeles and Oklahoma City region.
The Games will feature a record number of female Olympic athletes, with all team sports featuring for the first time an equal or higher number compared to men.
Women account for 50.5% of the total quota of athletes in the 51 sports.
Other highlights of the competition schedule include holding the largest number of women’s finals on an opening day of the Games.
Also, an unprecedented “Super Saturday” with 26 final sessions and the crowning of Olympic champions in 23 sports.
The closing ceremony of the Olympic Games is scheduled for Sunday, July 30, 2028.
