First day at the SCA U18 Women’s Handball + IHF Trophy in Asuncion, Paraguay. Peru, Venezuela and Uruguay sealed their victories and dream of qualifying.
Summary of the day. First day in Handball SCA U18 Female
Peru vs Costa Rica
The Peruvian team won from start to finish in the match against the “Ticas”. The partial of the first half was 21-13.
In the second half, Peru was able to take advantage of Costa Rica’s turnovers and managed to filter the defense, converting in each attack. The team coached by Jose Fuentes, stretched the advantage on the scoreboard and took the victory 42-28.
The scorers of the match were Sochil Cortes and Britany Morales with 9 goals each for Guatemala. Meanwhile, Ana Ramos scored 7 for Peru.
Guatemala vs Venezuela
The Venezuelans beat the Guatemalans 30-24 in the second match of the day. In the beginning, Guatemala went to the break with the score 14-13 in their favor.
In the second half, Venezuela was more solid in defense and after some turnovers by their opponents, they were able to score and win the match.
Guatemala’s Leidy Juarez was the top scorer with 10 goals. For Venezuela, Barbara Torrealba and Roxangel Torrelles scored 7 goals each.
Uruguay vs Paraguay
In the last game of the day, the Charrúas and the Guaraníes faced each other. The first half was evenly matched, with both teams adjusting their defense and attack, the partial was in favor of Uruguay 19-18.
During the second half, the Paraguayans came out determined to turn the result around, but the blockade in the Uruguayan defense did not allow them to take advantage.
Finally, Uruguay took the victory in the final seconds of the game. The charrúa scorer was Priscila Rojo with 9 goals. While in Paraguay, Mariana Amarilla scored 10 goals.
