Refereeing staff and delegates at the Central American Games. From October 17 to 21, the handball tournament was held with referees and delegates from COSCABAL.
Strengthening the work of referees
The Central American Games handball championship was held in Guatemala from October 17 to 21.
The competition was attended by 5 refereeing teams and 8 technical delegates. Rolando Ferrés from Uruguay, member of the PRC, was in charge of the staff as International Technical Delegate (ITD), actively collaborating with the teams of referees and delegates.
“We worked with representatives from the southern region of COSCABAL (ARG, BRA, CHI, PAR and URU), given that the referees from the center were busy with their competitive participation and were unable to join the refereeing corps,” said Rolando Ferres.
“This event is part of the generational renewal process that we have been promoting from the PRC. Young couples with great projection participated, highlighting the presence of IHF referees such as Agustín Converse and Santiago Correa from Argentina”.
“The evolution of the couples was highly positive. We held morning meetings with each duo, including group and individual feedback. In addition, physical and theoretical evaluations were carried out for all the referees, strengthening their integral formation.”

In summary, Ferrés stated that it was an extremely valuable event for the development of young referees and the incorporation of new delegates.
“This type of event is key to continue strengthening COSCABAL’s arbitration structure and to project future events with greater solidity and professionalism”, Ferres closed.
Finally, it should be noted that the tournament crowned the Costa Rican men’s and women’s teams as champions.
