The Youth World Cup in Egypt has come to an end. The men’s teams of Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay closed their participation in African lands.
National team of Brazil finished in 21st place while Argentina ranked 22nd y Uruguay ranked 28th.
South American classic won in Egypt
Brazil was strong in the last match of the Junior World Cup, facing Argentina, their classic South American rival. After finishing tied 20-20 they went to the penalty shootout.
Goalkeeper Guilherme Carneiro saved one of Argentina’s shots and gave Brazil the victory by closing the score 25-24. He was elected the MVP of the match.
Meanwhile, in the preliminary phase, they drew 26-26 against Saudi Arabia, beat Guinea 35-28 and lost to Iceland 25-19.
In the President’s Cup they won 36-26 against Algeria and drew with Croatia 23-23. At the end of the qualifiers, they won against Bahrain 33-25 and Argentina 25-24.
Argentine future
Argentina had one win and two losses in the preliminary phase. They beat Mexico 37-16 and lost 28-29 to Norway and 24-39 to France.
They scored a 31-20 victory over Uruguay and a 26-26 draw with the Faroe Islands. In qualifying, they lost 22-32 to Kosovo and 24-25 to Brazil.
Charrúa blood
The Uruguayan national team lost its three preliminary phase matches. They lost 39-22 to Germany, were also defeated by Slovenia 43-14 and by the Faroe Islands 33-17.
During the President’s Cup period they had one win and one loss. They lost 31-20 to Argentina and beat Mexico 36-21. At the end of the championship, they lost 25-35 to Kuwait and 27-32 to Algeria.
