C License trainer course

The IHF License C coaching course was held during the development of the II Junior Pan American Games, Asunción 2025.

During the II Pan American Games, a course was given as part of the Licensing Program that seeks to standardize the training of technical directors at the continental level.

It should be noted that the Development Commission of the Confederation of South and Central America Handball (COSCABAL) together with the International Handball Federation (IHF) seeks to regulate technical commissions worldwide and professionalize the activity of coaches.

Clear objectives

One of the people in charge of the training is Eduardo “Dady” Gallardo, who officiates as IHF Reader in the countries of the continent and was in charge of teaching the C License course in the city of Asunción.

Coaches from different Paraguayan cities participated and technical directors from Guatemala also joined in.

The COSCABAL model

During the course, they received a visit from the president of COSCABAL, Marcel Mancilla, who gave them a talk that focused on the integral technical-tactical training model of annual continuity in COSCABAL competitions and on strengthening the link between confederations, federations, associations and clubs so that the player’s development is complete.

Mancilla emphasized the importance of training in general for COSCABAL, and mentioned some of the concepts they have been working on during training sessions.

“To train players from the beginning in each of the stages according to age, improve performance, provide tools and take care of physical conditions, psychological well-being and mental skills for the development of handball.”

He also expressed the importance of the gender issues that are on the current agenda, and remarked that the ties and relationships between federations, players and family must be strengthened.

“The role of coaches and managers is key, if there is a systematic and coordinated effort, the results will come”, closed Marcel Mancilla.
