Tributes at the Handball Libertadores. At the championships held between May 11 and 24 in the Chilean capital, two important recognitions were made.
Distinction and remembrance
During the development of the women’s competition, last Thursday, May 15, a recognition was made to the former President of the Chilean Handball Federation since its foundation in 1992, Mr. Héctor Fernández Bogdanic.
Don Héctor worked hard for Chilean handball, he was also the founder of La Salle Handball Club. A leader who will be remembered in history as an important reference through his indispensable management of Chilean handball.

They received the award from COSCABAL President Marcel Mancilla, his immediate family, his wife Patricia Urrutia and their children.
Tribute to a passionate handball player
Hugo Valdebenito was a collaborator as a monitor of work and diffusion in handball massification since November 1970 together with the teacher and national diffuser Pablo Botka Faludi.
Valdebenito was a teacher and handball coach at La Salle High School from 1976-2017. He has also taught handball at the Universidad Central for Physical Education pedagogy students and at the Universidad de Chile in the Faculty of Economics and Business.
Don Hugo Valdebenito has been an outstanding trainer of great players for the national teams since 1980 in the categories of children, cadets, youth, juniors and adults in both male and female categories.
In addition, he was a reader for the International Handball Federation for handball initiation training in Mexico, Ecuador, Colombia and Peru.
Lastly, he was coach of national senior men’s and women’s national teams in Peru between 2014 and 2017.

Hugo Valdebenito received the award with his wife and part of his family. The president of COSCABAL, Marcel Mancilla and the president of the Chilean Handball Federation presented the award.
