The Libertadores of women’s handball has begun! Two weeks of the best handball in the continent starting this Sunday at the National Stadium Park in Santiago. The women’s championship will be played until Friday, May 16.
The following are the results of the opening day.
Scuola vs Pinheiros (22-30)

The Chilean team sought to respond with positional attacks, with Maura Alvarez and Catalina Moreno, both with 5 goals, standing out.
However, the Argentine team’s effectiveness in both areas proved decisive in winning the first points of group A by 19-28.

Cerro Porteño vs FMO/Portuguese (11-24)
The Brazilians of FMO/Português debuted with a clear victory against Cerro Porteño of Paraguay. The team coached by Cristano Rocha applied an intense defense and fast transitions that left the Paraguayan team with no response.
Jamily Félix and Tatita Correia led the offense with 5 goals each.
Cerro Porteño showed an outstanding performance in goal during the first half, racking up 11 saves that kept the team in the game for a stretch of the first half.
Finally, the Paraguayan team lost 11-24 to FMO/Portuguese.

Torrense vs Ovalle (20-28)
The start of the match showed parity with both teams alternating dominance during the first 15 minutes of play.
