The final crossings of the Men’s Club SCA were defined. Friday at the Parque Estadio Nacional in Santiago defined the key matches on the way to the closing of the tournament.
In a day full of excitement and high level of play, the finalists and the remaining places in the Libertadores del Handball 2025 were established.
Here is a summary of the fifth day:
Definition of the 9th to 16th place
MET vs Colegio Alemán (28-28) (3-2)
Vibrant match that was resolved from the 7 meters. MET took advantage after the first 10 minutes and went to the break up 14-12.
In the second half, Colegio Alemán maintained its rhythm of play and managed to equalize the score in the last second after forcing a penalty kick.
In the shootout, the locals won 3-2 with a great performance by goalkeeper Francisco Latorre. Lucas Oyarzo was elected MVP of the match. Uruguayan player Sebastián Vecino was the top scorer with 6 goals.
With this result MET will play the match for the 13th-14th place.
Ovalle vs Partille Club (24-20)
Partille Club surprised with a solid defensive approach and went to the break up 12-11. However, Ovalle corrected in the second half, adjusted its 6-0 and found offensive clarity.
Lucas PachecoThe Chilean goalkeeper, goalkeeper of the Chilean team, was the outstanding figure and won the MVP award. Peruvian player Diego López was the game’s top scorer with 8 goals. With this victory, Ovalle will play for 13th place, while Partille Club will play for 15th-16th place..

Universitario de Córdoba vs Pilar (25-23)
In a very even game, Pilar dominated the first few minutes and went into halftime up 11-10.
Universitario reacted in the second half and managed to come back with intelligence. Despite the good performance of goalkeeper Eduardo Morales, Pilar could not equalize in the final stretch.
Francisco Zidarich was the MVP of the match, while Cristian Heredia y Gustavo Pérez (Pilar) were the scorers with 6 goals. Universitario will play for the 9th place.
Kutral vs Liceo Nacional Maipu (30-36)
Chilean duel that started balanced in the courts of the Olympic Training Center. Liceo Nacional Maipu went to the break up 16-13 with good long distance shots.
In the second half, Liceo Nacional Maipu imposed its rhythm thanks to the leadership of its central defender and its offensive efficiency.
Aaron Codina, with 15 goals, was the great figure and won the MVP. Liceo Nacional will dispute the 9th place.

Definition of the 5th to 8th place
San Fernando vs Ward College (24-29)
In the Argentine duel, Ward won with authority in the second half after an even 11-9 at halftime. They adjusted their defense, exploited the counterattack and managed to open the scoreboard with offensive amplitude.
Agustín Cesio from San Fernando, was the top scorer with 9 goals, while Tomás Garay of Ward College was elected MVP. Ward will dispute the 5th place, while San Fernando will go for the 7th place.

USAB vs Nacional (26-34)
Nacional imposed its hierarchy from the start, dominating with efficiency in the first line and defensive solidity.
It closed a 16-13 partial and kept the difference in the second half against a USAB that showed interesting moments but without continuity. Santos De Almeida was elected MVP of the game and was also the top scorer with 9 goals.
With this result, Nacional will go for 5th place and USAB for 7th place.

Semifinals
Taubaté vs Dorrego (23-18)
A match of high intensity and tough defenses. Taubaté managed a slight 11-9 advantage thanks to unforced turnovers by Dorrego.
In the second half, the Brazilian team managed the match with rotation and control of the pace. The goalkeeper Lucas Santos was decisive at key moments and was elected MVP of the match.
The team from Taubaté will play in the final, while Dorrego will seek third place.

Pinheiros vs FMO/Portuguese (26-20)
Pinheiros came from behind to defeat FMO/Portuguese 26-20 and advance to the final of the tournament. FMO Portuguese dominated the first half 12-11, but Pinheiros adjusted their defense in the second half and evened the score and took control of the game.
Marcos Silva was the scorer with 7 goals and MVP of the match. The final will be against Taubaté.
