The Men’s Handball Libertadores already has its 4 semifinalists defined. FMO/Portuguese, Pinheiros and Taubaté from Brazil together with Dorrego from Argentina, will fight for a place in the final of the SCA Clubs.
The following is a summary of the fourth day of competition:
places from 9th to 16th:
Ovalle vs Kutral (26-29)
In a game in which Kutral had a 5-goal advantage, offensive mistakes made at the end of the first half allowed Ovalle to get closer to the scoreboard.
In the second half, the match was even and Jimmy Nuñez’s team put up a fight, even going a goal down.
However, Kutral handled the final minutes of the game better and won 29 -26. The scorer of the game was Danilo Salgado with 11 goals and he was also elected MVP.

L.N. MAIPU vs Partille Club (33-18)
In a game that seemed to be even, as the minutes went by, Maipú found its way in attack. Through its effectiveness in the offense, Maipú was able to get a big difference and go to the break leading 17 -7.
In the last 30 minutes of the match, Partille Club improved its performance but the Chilean team continued to run and recover balls.
Finally, Liceo Nacional de Maipú won 33-18, getting its second victory in the competition.
Arian Delgado was the top scorer along with Vicente Vera with 6 goals each, who was also elected MVP of the game.

Universitario vs MET (35-34)
During the first half of the game, Universitario gradually improved its game. In this way they managed to generate a 5-goal advantage to go to the locker room, winning 18-13.
In the second half, MET’s coach, Cristian Cabrera, decided to attack with 7 players, complicating the Cordoba defense and managing to tie the game.
In the end, Universitario was more effective in its shots on goal and won by the minimum 35-34.
The MVP was Ignacio Ribero of Universitario. The scorer of the match was Dante Cabrera of Met with 9 goals.

Colegio Alemán vs Pilar (29(3)-(4)29)
A great game was played at the Olympic Training Center, where Colegio Alemán and Pilar had no difference in the first 60 minutes and took the match to penalties.
Parity was experienced from the beginning and continued until the end, as neither team was able to get more than one goal difference on the scoreboard.
In the last 30 seconds, Alfonso De Rossa scored Colegio Alemán’s 29th goal from a fly ball to tie the score.
In the penalty kicks, Pilar of Paraguay won 4 -3, with a great performance by their goalkeeper Eduardo Morales, who made 2 saves.
The MVP of the game was Edgar Arias of Pilar, who together with Arnaldo Ayala scored 8 goals each.

QUARTERFINALS:
FMP/Portuguese vs San Fernando (20-16)
In an intense but low-scoring game, FMO/Portuguese and San Fernando did not take advantage of each other in the first half of the game, provisionally tying 9-9.
In the second half, the Brazilian team was able to make a difference that it maintained until the end of the game.
The low effectiveness of the San Fernando players’ shots and the great defense of FMO/Portuguese led Marcus de Oliveira’s team to a new continental semifinal.
The MVP was Kaique Clayver and Joel Santos was the top scorer with 10 goals.

Pinheiros vs Ward College (40-24)
The Brazilian team dominated from start to finish the match played at the National Stadium. With their 9-meter shots, their great defense and their counterattacking ability, the last champions did not give Ward College a chance.
The team led by Alex Aprile went to the break with a 21-10 lead. This difference continued to increase in the second half of the match, where Pinheiros never slowed down.
It was a 40-24 victory for Pinheiros. The MPV player of the match was João Lindoso who also scored 6 goals.

Taubaté vs Nacional (34-28)
In a very disputed match from the beginning, Taubaté managed to adjust its offense and make a difference in the scoreboard at the end of the first half. In this way they went to the locker room winning 19-3.
The team led by Andre Silva continued with its defensive solidity in the second half. This allowed Taubate to hold the result and win the victory over Nacional by 34-28.
Victor Menzes was elected MVP of the game, together with Gustavo Silva scored 7 goals each.

Dorrego vs USAB (35-21)
The Chilean team started winning the match, but Dorrego was quickly able to turn the score around. The turnovers and mistakes in USAB’s offense resulted in goals for Rubén Busolin’s team, taking advantage and winning 16-10.
In the second half, Dorrego managed to extend the difference in the scoreboard even more, and to get the ticket to the semifinals with a 35-21 victory.
Bautista Arrom of Dorrego was elected MVP of the match, while Rodrigo Aedo of USAB was the top scorer with 8 goals.
