This Wednesday, May 21, the draw for the quarterfinals of the SCA of Clubs, Santiago 2025 will take place. Live on our YouTube channel Handball SC America you will be able to follow all the stages of the draw that defines the quarterfinals of the most important Club Championship of the Continent.
The draw will take place from 10.00 a.m. (local time) with the presence of coaches and players of the clubs involved, in addition we will be accompanied by the president of the Confederation of South and Central America Handball and Nadyr Figueredo, treasurer of COSCABAL and president of the Paraguayan Handball Confederation.
Handball Libertadores in quarterfinals
The competition system consists of 4 groups of 4 teams each. At the end of the qualifying phase, a draw is made between the first and second place finishers in each group.
Once the quarterfinals are resolved (in the draw), the 4 winning teams will face each other in the semifinals according to the competition program. The 4 The losers will play for the 5th to 8th places. The remaining competitors will play for the 9th to 16th positions.
The winners of the semifinal games will advance to the SCA Club Championship 2025 and the qualification to the IHF Club World Championship. The losers will play for 3rd and 4th place.
The teams in the draw are: for group A, Taubaté and Colegio Ward; for group B, FMO/Portuguese and Nacional; for group C, Dorrego and San Fernando; and for group D, Pinheiros and USAB .
Modality of the draw
- The first key is drawn by removing a ball from the first place cup.
- A ball is then removed from the second place cup.
- Then, the second key will be formed following the same criteria and so on.
- Thus, the quarterfinal competition table (fixture) will be set.
- The only precaution in the formation of the keys is that teams from the same group of the initial phase of the championship may not play against each other.
