First day of La Libertadores Men’s Handball!

First day of the Men’s Handball Libertadores. From this Sunday 18 to Saturday May 24, the South Central American Clubs will be playing with 16 teams that will go in search of eternal glory.

Below is the summary of Date 1:

UNIVERSITARIO VS NACIONAL (24-36)

Universitario started dominating in the first minutes of the match. After some offensive mistakes, the Brazilian team managed to turn the score around.

In the second half Nacional clearly dominated the game and won the match 36-24 .Lucas Mineiro was elected MVP, while Sydclebson Aquino was the scorer with 10 goals.

DORREGO VS SAN FERNANDO (24-24)

In the Argentinian duel, Dorrego and San Fernando The two teams did not make a difference and tied 24-24.

The first half belonged to Dorrego, the team led by Rubén Busolín was superior and closed a 17-11 partial.

Late in the second half, Dorrego went 8 minutes without being able to score, which allowed San Fernando to tie the game.

The game ended in a 24-24 tie, Dorrego’s player Enzo Ferrando was the MVP of the game and the scorer was Bautista Arrom with 6 goals.

PINHEIROS VS PARTILLE CLUB (39-16)

Alex Aprile’s team, Pinheiros, made a strong start on the first day. They were able to display all their game and defeated the Peruvian team, Partille Club, 39-16.

The MVP of the match was João Lindoso of Pinheiros and the top scorer was Carlos Trelles of Partille with 6 goals.

KUTRAL VS FMO/PORTUGUES (20-25)

The match played at the Olympic Training Center between Kutral and FMO/Portuguese was vibrant. With 7 minutes left in the first half, Kutral made mistakes in its offense that the Brazilian Portuguese team did not forgive and closed a partial 14-8.

In the second half, despite the Chilean team’s efforts to get closer to the scoreboard, the difference marked in the first half was lethal and the team led by Tata won 25-20.

WARD SCHOOL VS OVALLE (26-23)

In a very even game at the beginning, Ward College took advantage of the last period of the first half in which the locals could not convert goals and went to the locker room leading 16 -11.

In the second half, as the minutes went by, Ovalle got closer to the scoreboard. However, the great performance of the Argentine goalkeeper, Ignacio Martino, was decisive to close the goal and Ward College obtained the victory in the debut by 26-23.

Liceo Nacional MAIPÚ VS PILAR (10-0)

The Paraguayan team from Pilar did not show up for the game and was therefore granted the victory over Liceo Nacional Maipú by 10-0.

MET VS TAUBATÉ (25-44)

The last champion debuted with a 44-25 victory in a new edition of the Men’s Handball Libertadores.

Taubaté was superior throughout the match. With a great defense and a very physical game, they managed to recover the ball to deploy all their power in the counterattack.

Gustavo Andrade of Taubaté was the MVP and scorer of the game with 7 goals.

COLEGIO ALEMÁN VS USAB (23-29)

An exciting match was played at the end of the day at the Collective Sports Center – National Stadium.

USAB became strong at the end and with a great performance of their goalkeepers Matías Lyner and Claudio Albornoz they were able to go to the break winning 18-13.

In the second half Colegio Aleman was getting closer in the scoreboard. However, in the final 8 minutes they scored only 1 goal and had many turnovers. Thus sentencing USAB to a 29-23 victory.

USAB’s Daniel Ayala was the MVP of the match and the scorers with 8 goals were Rodrigo Aedo and Tomás Paulsen.
