Finalists defined and a day full of emotions. In a vibrant day, the teams that will fight for the first place in the Libertadores Handball Championship, which takes place at the Collective Sports Center in the National Stadium Park, were defined.
The fifth day of competition gave us six matches with a lot of emotions. The teams that will play the final this Friday at 8:00 p.m. were defined.
Definitions from 9th to 12th place
Torrense vs Cerro Porteño (23-22)
Cerro Porteño started the first half winning against the Brazilian team of Torrense, but in the second half Luan Agliardi’s team turned the score around.
Torrense’s defense was better positioned and knew how to take advantage of their opponent’s mistakes. The game ended with Torrense winning by the minimum difference 23-22.
The player Beatriz Mello of Torrense was elected MVP of the match, the scorers were Constanza Berni for Cerro Porteño and Sabina Gardez of Torrense with 8 goals each.

Scuola Italiana vs Leonas (26-18)
Scuola Italiana managed to beat Leonas from the beginning of the game, the 16-8 partial in the first stage was stretched in the second half.
Scuola clearly dominated the game, with quick starts and a defense that did not allow Leonas to score.
It was a 26-18 win for Scuola Italiana. The MVP of the match was Julieta Iturriaga and also the scorer with 5 goals.

Ovalle vs Dorrego (28-25)
The local team of Ovalle managed to get the victory in an even match. In the first half, Ovalle had some difficulties in their defense, which left the score in their favor by the minimum 15-14.
In the second half, the team coached by Felipe Maurin managed to impose their game and after Dorrego’s defensive mistakes they were able to take advantage.
Finally, Ovalle beat Dorrego 28-25, their player Gabriela Müller was elected the MVP of the match and scored 7 goals. While Dorrego’s player Noelia Sala scored 8 goals.

FMO/Portuguese vs Jockey Club (30-27)
The team led by Cristiano Rocha faced Jockey again. After the tough defeat against Pinheiros, FMO/Portuguese recovered and beat the Argentinean team by 30-27.
The match was even throughout, with the advantage going to the Brazilian team, who were able to convert their opponents’ defensive errors into goals.
Irina Olmos and Camila Haro were the game’s top scorers with 7 goals each, while FMO/Portuguese player Yamiñy Feliz scored 6 goals and Tabita Correia was the game’s MVP.

Semifinals
Layva vs River Plate (21-19)
A vibrant match was experienced in the first semifinal of the day, at the beginning both teams did not take advantage of each other. However, River Plate took advantage of some defensive errors by Layva and went to the locker room up 11-8 on the scoreboard.
The second half was completely different, River had turnovers, missed shots and failed to get a foothold on defense.
On the other hand, Layva proposed a fast game with counterattacks and their goalkeeper Agustina Modernell had an outstanding performance.
Layva won 21-19 and qualified to the final. Rosina Gonzalez was the MVP of the match and Paloma Satto of River scored 7 goals.

Pinheiros vs Sedalo (23-24)
The closing match of the day was a match full of emotions between two teams that had already met in the group stage.
In the first half Pinheiros was the clear dominator of the game, closing a partial 15-11. In the second half, the team coached by Fernando Garcia recovered in defense and conversion.
Until the last minute of the game there was parity of goals and fast starts, but in the last seconds Dolores García converted from the 9 meters, sentenced the victory 24-23 and Sedalo’s pass to the final.
Miranda Kruk scored 5 goals and. Carolina Luque was elected the MVP of the match.

Programming
This Friday the competition ends and all the positions of the SCA Handball Championship for Women’s Clubs will be defined.
From 10:00 am Leonas vs Cerro Porteño (11th-12th), 12:00 Torrense vs Scuola Italiana (9th-10th), 14:00 Dorrego vs Jockey Club (7th-8th), 16:00 Ovalle vs FMO/Portuguese (5th-6th), at 18:00 River Plate vs Pinheiros (3rd-4th) and the grand finale at 20:00 between Layva vs Sedalo (1st-2nd).
